Review:This unit arrived well packaged and it was fairly easy to setup. I highly recommend that buyers watch the video referenced on the last page of the included instruction booklet. While you wait on your unit to arrive, you should buy some seeds. There are 10 pods included in the box and 7 will fit in the machine at a time. You will also need a small amount of purified water for mixing up the included fertilizer solution. We really like the size of the unit and it looks great in our kitchen on the window sill. Ideally I'd give this unit 4 1/2 stars for now as I'd like to see how well it grows our herbs, but I have really high hopes as this unit seems very well priced compared to other units. I also think it would be a great project for older kids. Here are some other nice features: The telescoping light that expands as you need it, different light/pump modes and an alarm that will sound if water level gets too low. UDATED 7/18 - Its been about 1 month and this is such a great little unit. See updated photo. The basil is growing like crazy and we are really happy with this purchase. This is a 5 star product! Review:Your browser does not support HTML5 video. My 12-year-old set this up for me in my office. We planted some herbs, marigolds, and something from an unlabeled package that will be a surprise. Setup was a bit of a challenge, but fun. The light is very bright, but you can set it to be dark while you sleep if it's in a bedroom. You can hear a little tinkle sound when the pump comes on every 30 minutes, but you can set it to be silent and dark all night if it’s in a bedroom. If the lights go out unexpectedly (like they did for me when I tried to adjust the height), make sure the extendable rod that connects the light to the base is firmly in place. So far, so good! I'll update when we have some plants to talk about. Read more

Review:Your browser does not support HTML5 video. For 89$ (plus a 10$ off coupon at the time), I did have my reservations about this product, but it seems like an awesome value for the money! I just got it today and put in the seeds a few hours ago, but I will surely leave an update in a few weeks to report any significant growth. The only thing I found a little confusing was the sponges (I’m used to dirt COVERING my seeds), but the little plastic cap/ covers serve to keep in moisture. The system even comes in with plant food of two different compositions, which is very convenient so I don’t have to buy any myself. The only thing the IDOO has that the AeroGarden doesn’t have off the bat is the seeds, but I simply bought a more versatile pack for 15$ from Amazon (Tiny Greens 12 Herb Seed Pack). I also find that the button settings are slightly confusing and the instructions for them could be better worded, but you’ll get the gist after a while. Read more

Review:We ordered this system to have some fresh veggies and herbs right in the kitchen when we need them. Plus, we thought it would be a fun science project for our kids. It arrived fast and in great condition. Once our seeds arrived, we soaked them and then planted them in the sponges provided with the system. The directions were a little confusing with regards to how much water to use. But once we figured it out, the rest was easy! We set our timer to normal which is 14 hours on and 10 hours off. This seemed to be the perfect setting for starting the seeds as they started growing in no time at all! We put the little plastic caps on the seeds and in a few days, we had to take them off because the sprouts were so big! I am amazed at how fast these seeds sprouted! I can't wait to see how big they get! So far, everything has worked perfectly. The light turns on and off without any problems. We haven't had to add any water yet, but I'm sure that won't be a problem either. All in all, a great buy! I'd highly recommend it. Read more

Review:Excellent product. Here are my pros and cons: Pros - Easy setup - Quality parts, water pump is silent and grow light is bright - Longer than average cord to move the system around - Automatic light timing and low water notifications - Ability to grow herbs, peppers, and basically anything that can grow indoors Cons - Doesn’t come with seeds Updated one week later: All seeds growing already, excited to get fresh herbs soon. Review:Very simple set up. Plants are growing well. I have had this up and running for several weeks. The nutrients were dry and you mix upon delivery. Seem to work well so far. Two part is the way to go in my experience and I can only assume this mix is par to more expensive branded options. I purchased a herloom seed mix kit off Amazon as well. I used tape and little labels to mark the plants to keep track. Looks like the UV is fading my ink a little but I can see and smell them now so the labels are less important. I have two toddlers and we like to check out the new growth every day. It’s easy to see growth from day to day; new leaves, new height, etc. I am really looking forward to pizza night with the fresh oregano and basil. I taped the covers down with painters tape at first to prevent their curios hands from messing with it during germination stage. Pro tip on cilantro: use the humidity cover, place a quarter over it, and check daily for a sprout which could take up to 3 weeks. My first cilantro did not take off, perhaps I didn’t wait long enough. I researched it and the trick is patience and placing a quarter on top over the seed. Note: I had to return and exchange my first unit due to a leak on first setup. That was disappointing but for the price this little rig is good to go. Very neat design with pump and light automation. Review:I've had my eye on these hydroponics systems since they came out and I ogled them in Selfridges some years ago. I thought they were financially out of my league but I've watched the prices come down and the reviews go up and so finally bit the bullet and purchased this unit by iDOO last week from Amazon. The unit arrived the next day and I literally couldn't wait to get started. The unit is extremely easy to set up. The paper copy of the manual that came in the box had a few typos/translation errors but the digital version is perfect with very clear and easy to follow instructions. A little tip is that the nutrient bottles have a silver disc inside the spout, which in my excitement I took out before I added water to the bottle. Once you have added the water, you then have to shake the bottles well to dissolve the tablets - if you've already removed the disc from the spout then you will need to put your finger over the spout as you shake - if you put the lid on and shake then the lid fills with water and you lose some of the nutrients when you reopen the bottle. So either leave the disc in or put a finger over the top. Other than that, it was totally straightforward to set up. I have planted coriander, chilli and basil in mine so far and am only 4 days in. The close-up picture (last one) is of one of the basil seeds, which I am sure is about to germinate as the seeds have swelled up and changed colour. I will update this review when I get more growth. I have to say that getting this unit was all about me as I am the gardener of the house. However, my husband and two teenage boys (not normally interested in anything that we do) are all checking it several times a day and asking loads of questions about it - it's definitely generated a lot of interest in our house. It has a prominent place in the kitchen and looks fab too - I just love it. I only wish I'd had one of these when the boys were younger as I think younger children would really enjoy (and learn a lot from) watching the process of life before their very eyes - it really is fascinating as the seeds remain on show (not hidden in soil as is usually the case) and so you can see every stage of germination and growth. I haven't played around with the different light modes yet as I've followed the instructions for optimum light for germination, but there are three settings: "Normal" mode has the light on for 14 hours and off for 10 hours in a continuous cycle. "Enjoy" mode is 12 hours on and 12 off - the manual says that this is really only to be used once the plants have grown and they are at the "ornamental" stage, and the "Grow" mode is 16 hours on and 8 hours off. Due to over-excitement and impatience, I am planning to switch the unit to "Grow" mode once all the seeds have germinated. On only day 4 I am expecting this to happen very soon! :). I will update this review with more pics once I've got some good growth to show. In summary, this is a smart, modern and attractive addition to our kitchen and an extremely rewarding way to have a ready supply of your favourite herbs all year round. At the price it is now available as well I worked out that it will pay for itself in a year as well with the amount of herbs that we currently buy. Very pleased with my purchase so far! UPDATE DAY 8: Just added a couple of pics of my seeds 8 days after setting the system up. I mean, I know it's lockdown and everything but it's so exciting! Also, I forgot to add that I was worried that the pump wasn't running. It is only supposed to run for 5 minutes every 30 minutes but I never heard it running. So the other day I sat right next to it working at my laptop in silence. It is running but it's SO quiet, it's barely audible. So don't worry about this making any kind of disturbing noise - it's super-quiet. Read more

Review:Purchased the idoo as a gift for my wife. She has the green fingers in the house and spends a lot of time (and money) in the garden. A bit suspicious at the beginning, after reading a bit about the Hydroponics system, she is now enthusiastic and talks all the time about It. Among other ideas, she wants to use it to grow little plants directly from the seeds, to then be moved into the soil in the garden, as soon the season is right. From my point of view, being a total green ignorant, the idoo is quite elegant. She has put it right on the kitchen worktop, making space next to her Bimby. Probably the most prestigious spot for her tools. Definitively a success. Highly recommended as a gift for garden lovers (at least it has worked wonders in the case of my wife). When I asked for the negatives (come on, there must be some) the only thing she came out with was that she would have liked to receive some test seeds with the garden kit. A couple of pounds away from the perfect gift. I think I will update my review when the first lot of seeds has bloomed. In the mean time, I am enjoying myself having scored a few brownie points. Review:Highly recommended as a gift for garden lovers (at least it has worked wonders in the case of my husband and its looks super stylish on our kitchen top) The system is really quiet and fits well on our kitchen counter, the instructions are clear and doesn't take long to set up. Upon opening you get the unit itself, 8 seed baskets, 10 (2 spare) seed pods, lids, the power adapter and the nutrients for the plant growth. The unit itself looks very sleek and stylish. We have put ours in the living area. The grower gives off a lovely light. It’s like it’s own feature and gives a nice ambience. If the light is too harsh for you, you can change the settings to “enjoyment mode” via touch buttons on the top of the machine. This also affects the amount the pump is used. However I haven’t heard any noise in normal mode. It’s silent!. Super happy with my buy. Read more

Review:This is a great hydroponic kit that looks great sat on the kitchen top. The big rival and probably the original is the areogarden. The areogarden is pretty expensive so this comes in quite a bit cheaper. There’s a great comparison between this and the areogarden and really the only advantage of the areogarden was the better water flow. But this product has the advantage of a low water alarm and a light that extends higher. So all on all choose the idoo. There’s also a good easy fiction that controls when the light comes on and goes off. I have done hydroponics before so had a heads up though for beginners the instructions are pretty clear. I would suggest starting with something simple like lettuce or herbs. Though seeds are not included in the set but any old seeds for herbs lettuce will do. Read more

Review:Upon arrival I was quite surprised at the size of the box. For whatever reason I had expected the item to be a little bigger. This is seen more clearly upon opening - the attached photo is literally just after taking it out of the box, I placed a mouse by the side so you can see the scale. Now of course this is a beginners system so it is understandable that it is a smaller unit, actually its a perfect size to sit on the window sill with it being fairly compact and as such I've started it off with a selection of herbs that I am expecting will grow really well. (I'll update the review if they don't thrive). I'm thinking of putting some baby tomatoes in once spring comes around although if it performs as well as other reviews have suggested it could easily become my all year round baby tomato unit. For me its a A rating, great product, good build quality - obviously its plastic but not overly flimsy or anything, and the lights are nice and bright. Read more
