Review:The soap works well because it contains PEG-75. I want to go chemical free so I will not use this product again. I will stick with The Healthy Porcupine Pine Tar tallow soap. No chemicals and all natural. Additionally, and probably the worst aspect of this soap is that I smell like an old mop bucket that has been filled with Pine-Sol. It is very commercial grade chemical in smell and feel. I do not recommend this soap for anything other than scrubbing oil stains off of the garage floor. Read more

Review:I was terrified to use. I haven’t opened the box and I can smell the stench thru it. I don’t think I want my body to smell like this. This stuff is awesome. Yes it does stink like tar but what did I expect. Frankly once it’s is absorbed into your skin it leaves very little odor. I love this stuff Read more

Review:After I tried this soap for a few days, I got a subscription - a three-bar pack every six weeks. It smells good, but not overwhelming or flowery. It helps my oily skin, but doesn't leave it dry or scaly. Most of all, it alleviates my dandruff since I also use it as a shampoo. Overall, a great soap at a great price. The only drawback is that it usually arrives late and once it even got "lost in the mail". (I got a full refund though.) Since I'm reviewing the soap, not the shipping, I still give it a solid "5". Review:The reason I rated this soap as I did, is because of its odor. I read this same concern in a review, before I ordered it, but I didn't know if the reviewer was over-sensitive to the scent. The artificial smell of smoke is over-powering. It is so strong, I can't smell the pine, which is what I bought it for. Otherwise, the bar is formed well with a good shape, and lathers and works well. I won't be purchasing it again. Read more

Review:OMG! I am in LOVE! This soap is AMAZING! Now I don't have sensitive skin, so I can't speak to that...but I do have oily skin and is still prone to acne, even at 50! But pine tar soap makes my skin and hair squeaky clean....it actually SQUEAKS! I bought the bar soap and the shampoo for a scalp issue I am having. I have only been using it for 1 week, so it is too soon to make any calls on it's effects. I can say my scalp itches less than it used to. It seems less irritated than it was. But I will update as I see results. As far as the smell...my husband and son HATE the smell. I actually LOVE the smell. It reminds me of a bonfire. Roasting hot dogs over a roaring fire! My results are good enough that even if I didn't like the smell, I would still be using it! I will update as I see progress! Read more

Review:I have a bar of this soap on my bathroom counter as a hand soap and a bar in my shower, which I use daily. I have been using this soap for six weeks. I bought it because I had developed red, swollen, itchy (eczema) spots on my arms and face. After about two weeks of daily use, the spots disappeared. As for the smell, I like it. It seems to be very strong while using, but the "pine" smells fades very quickly. My skin looks better than it has in years (I'm in my mid-40's). Several people have asked what type of soap I have been using, wanting to order it themselves. Read more

Review:In the last year I have transitioned from liquid/chemical filled soaps to natural bar soaps to avoid unnecessary chemicals and plastic waste. Most soaps in this category can be quite pricey so I have tried many different kinds to find the right balance of quality versus price. Packer’s Pine Tar Soap seemed amazing, as pine tar scent is my absolute favorite and the price for three bars was not bad in comparison with the competition. Unfortunately, it was too good to be true. The product is wrapped in plastic (a minor gripe as most soaps come this way but cardboard wrappings work just as well without the waste) and it smells nothing like pine tar. It smells more like shoe polish mixed with leather. One whiff of the scent immediately gave me a headache and I did not in any way smell pine. I can’t vouch for the quality of the soap, however, as I couldn’t stand the smell enough to use it. This is definitely not what most people will expect from a pine tar scented soap. So far, in my experience, Dr. Squatch pine tar soap is the best smelling option in the category but the price reflects the quality at $10 per bar. Read more
