Review:I've been using the Frog mineral cartridge with the @ease chlorine cartridges for the past year in my hot tub. I have a 6 person (400 gallon) caldera spa and it has been a very easy system to use. I replace the mineral cartridge every 3 months when I change the water. I believe the secret to this system working properly is the PH has to be above 7.4. The chlorine cartridges usually last about 3 weeks, but sometimes 4 or 5. My PH tends to drift low after the first month of water change and I use baking soda to bump it back up. Easy. Especially in the winter when I don't want to be out in the cold jacking around with chemicals and test kits. Read more

Review:Packaging color and what is printed is different from the one I bought at the pool store, and the container is only a quarter of the way full!! ***update It's only been 1 month and my hot tub water is cloudy and smelly! This cartridge did not work like the first one I bought in a pool store. Ph and alk did not stay balanced and bromine would not hold like the original, either. Read more

Review:The Spa Frog Mineral cartridge sent to me was nearly empty. After reading other reviews like mine, I spoke with a company representative who said he would get back to me. I also provided several photos of the nearly empty cartridge. I was disappointed that nobody responded. The company, King Technology, owns the patents and is the only company that makes the mineral and disinfectant cartridges that fit many leading spa brands. So you would think they cared about quality control. Apparently, not. I suggest that buyers return any Spa Frog cartridge that is less than three quarters full. There are workarounds for empty Spa Frog cartridges: You can refill the cartridges by simply drilling a hole through the top, inserting your own product and closing the hole with a rubber stopper. The chemical used in the mineral cartridge is silver chloride, readily available on sources such as Ebay. This is not a caustic chemical. Chlorine or bromine disinfectant can be purchased at many retail stores. It is caustic, so use caution when refilling your cartridge. Use a rubber stopper not a cork. Tip: look for chlorine that reads "available chlorine" of at least 50%. Chlorine that is not "available" has little disinfectant value. You can, however, adjust the cartridge setting for lower available chlorine. A second workaround is just stop using either the mineral or disinfectant cartridge. Balance your water quality the old fashioned way. Use a test kit. It's easy and will save you a lot of money. Lastly, realize that your built-in ozonator dramatically reduces your need for chemicals. Happy Hot Tubbing! Read more

Review:I agree with another reviewer. These don’t have enough silver granules in them. I believe they’ve been tampered with. The new one that I got today has less in it than the cartridge I’m replacing that’s been in my hot tub for four months. Will NOT be repurchasing. Read more

Review:The Frog Spa mineral cartridge system makes taking care of my hot tub so much easier. This the third cartridge I have ordered through Amazon and have never been disappointed. Although I use chlorine in my spa and this cartridge says it's for a bromine system I verified with my spa dealer that the chemicals are the same for both systems. This cartridge is almost $10 less expensive than the darker colored one that says it's for a chlorine system. My spa water stays clear and doesn't have any strong chemical odor for 3 to 4 months with monthly chlorine cartridge changes. Read more

Review:I've used these cartridges for a couple years now, and I can tell you they make maintenance so much easier. I don't typically mess with the hot tub during the week, so at times the bromine has run low by the time I get around to checking on it...I feel like this gives me a bit of a buffer when that happens. I open the mineral cartridge all the way to 6 and leave the bromine cartridge at 1, and that gives me perfect balance for our hot tub which has about 250 gallons of water. For larger tubs, you may need to set the bromine a little higher to get the right level of disinfectant. Read more
