Review:This could possibly be the coolest thing I ever purchased. I already had a Raspberry Pi, and I was looking for something to get me started in learning the operating and programming environment. This was exactly the right choice. It comes with everything you'd need to begin working with Arduino programming and simple circuits. The programming guide isn't the best translated document I've ever seen, but I was able to work my way through all of the projects once I learned the basics, and that's the way it's setup - to introduce you to the most simple control functions, then gradually get more complex as you work your way through the sensors. RFID, audio, keypad, motion sensor, motors, LED's, temperature, humidity, light, remote control, distance, and even seven segment displays - it's all there with enough resistors, capacitors, transistors, and diodes to ensure you have everything you need to finish every project. Everything is in a well-organized plastic case, so it's easy to keep together, even if my wife did complain a little about the extra clutter on the dining room table... The kit I received was missing an RGB LED, but I emailed Elegoo, and they immediately sent out a replacement, but in the highest amount of style possible - they sent me five RGB LED's, another USB cable, and a dandy plastic organizing case. Their support is top-notch and responsive. Read more

Review:The media could not be loaded. I got this for my son and I can't think of a better way to get introduced to Arduino. After he went to bed last night I played with this kit for hours. The only reason this is getting 4 stars is because the breadboard power supply is not working properly. I contacted Elegoo when I realized it, which was only a couple of hours ago. Obviously I don't expect an answer over the weekend but hopefully we can get this sorted out quickly. The short video is something I had running within an hour of putting my hands on this kit. I know electronics fairly well but have never played with any sort of Arduino, or programing....so I was happy to make it work. I am having so much fun that I decided to order my own, even with the power supply issue. Sorry for the potato-cam appearance of the video, it was about 3 am and I was pretty tired. EDIT: Elegoo responded and they are sending out a new piece. Upgraded to 5 stars for the quick customer service. Read more

Review:I rarely give feedback on products and even more rarely give them 5 stars. This is a comprehensive starter kit at a very competitive price. I also bought the separate 37 sensor kit. There are so many gadgets in both these kits it will take me months to get through all of them. Yes, there are some misspelled words and other minor issues, but I think the company really put their heart into assembling a great product. And they freely give their contact information out in many places and want you to contact them with issues. Some other complaints are around getting started and using the product with the instructions provided. I was able to install everything and control an LED light with sample code in 8 minutes, not kidding. But you have to realize this is not a kids toy, these are real engineering components here. Its up to you to learn, problem solve and create what you want from the components as opposed to being a step by step kit. That's the whole fun of it. Those with a technical or engineering background will be at an enormous advantage. You must learn how to program using C code and research how the components work. For example, I was unable to get the stepper motor to work from this kit with the example stepper motor code that comes with Arduino IDE. But that's because the example code is for a different stepper motor and there are many different kits out there with different types of stepper motors. I took me two hours to learn about stepper motors and was able to write my own code to control it. I'm lucky to have an engineering background with a little bit of C code experience so I could see someone taking much longer to figure out the stepper motor issue or giving up completely. If you really want to learn Arduino, you can. Be patient, buy books like Programming Arduino by Simon Monk, browse forums, watch YouTube tutorials, etc. So I'll summarize by saying that this is a great product and ships as advertised. I suspect many frustrations are because this is a fairly advanced kit and not a toy. Thank you for reading my review and good luck. UPDATE: I spent more time going through the sample code provided by Elegoo and the stepper motor code they provided works perfect. My comments above were based on my grabbing the code that comes with Arduino IDE which was incompatible. Again, I think the kit is great. Probably most negative feedback coming from misunderstanding how to use everything. Read more

Review:This kit is very good if you are looking for electronic parts to play with. It comes with a large variety of components, including many that are never used in the "lessons", but could be handy for a new experimenter. You should be somewhat familiar with Arduino, or electronics in general, if you want to use this kit effectively. A little bit of programming knowledge is also required. Do not buy this kit if you are expecting to learn electronics, or programming from it. Download the lessons first, and read them over before purchasing this kit. If you require more information, it is not provided. I downloaded, and used, the latest software and lessons from the Elegoo webiste. I did not use the CD that came with it. I would rate the hardware 5 stars. The lessons 1 star. Overall 2 stars (I just can't overlook some of the errors in the lessons). Cons: - The lessons are the biggest con. (The hardware is great.) - Most lessons are poorly translated into English. Not so bad that they can't be understood though. - Some lessons give good descriptions, while others just present some information from a data sheet, such as detailed specifications that mean nothing to anyone except electronics designers. - They assume the users are familiar with electronics, or programming lingo. (One example: Do you know what an SPI interface is? Do you need to? Do you really care? They will talk about it like you know all about it.) - Comments made in the programs are very poor. A beginner would be lost. - Errors in the "lessons", including... - Pinouts in the schematics that do not match the code. (They say wire up pin 6, then the code uses pin 12) - The wiring diagrams, and the picture of the wiring do not always match. - The code does not always match the description. (They say it will perform one function, but it performs another) - The lessons rely heavily on existing libraries. The libraries are rarely described or documented. A beginner will just have to trust what the library functions are, and how to use them. Pros: - A great variety of parts. - Nicely presented case, and packaging. - If you follow the lessons exactly, even with the errors, none of the parts will be damaged. Some of them may not work as expected though. (The exception was the relay program. The code turns the relay off and on at high speed, so it will wear out the relay if left on very long. The relay I believe is rated for 10,000 cycles. This was not the intent of the lesson). - The components and circuit boards could be used to make a variety of functioning products for personal use. Summary: I am an electronics engineering technologist, and I managed to get all of the lessons to work. The average hobbyist may or may not. A child at a birthday party will not enjoy this kit. The kit came with many things I've always wanted to try out, and now have. I was very disappointed in the lessons. It seems someone put a lot of effort into them at one time, but they have become a disjointed mess. I would suggest Elegoo give this kit to someone in the company without any electronics or programming knowledge. They could follow that persons journey, and make corrections and additions as needed. Review:I am an electrical engineering student and was in need of a toy to play with during the summer to avoid falling behind with school content. I found this kit and it seemed like a complete set of tools to start fun projects.... "The Most Complete Ultimate Starter Kit" haha! Yes, in fact, it has so many things that it gave me many project ideas with Arduino. It contains a good PDF with tutorials showing how to connect each parts/tools to the main chip (Arduino) and introducing the projects (codes) available on the CD. All of the content is avaible in many languages and fairly up to date (2016). I have intermediate knowledge in electronics and I mainly just play around with all the tools, but I took the time to check the lessons and the guide explains the basics for the tools used in each of them. This means it would be a decent purchase or gift for a teenager or a person with less knowledge in the field (or even none). Last of all, I had a concern with one piece in the kit. It was working but had a small defect. I made a video with my webcam showing the small defect and shared it in an email (address provided in the kit). Elegoo responded promptly and decided to send me a free replacement because they could see that it was not normal. I am a very satisfied customer and would not hesitate to contact them again for any other concern. They even pointed out a wiring error in a picture I've sent them and fixed my rookie problem. Review:The kit is very good, but you need to learn a lot about C programming at least to the C99 standard and it helps to have taken college level advanced electronics and digital circuits courses before getting into these kits. Much of peoples' complaints are due to the fact that this kind of project requires a lot of prior knowledge to really understand the underlying principles. With that being said, the tutorials explain enough for a beginner to get started, but there are of course problems/bugs and the tutorials aren't always going to be enough to solve them for you. However, I believe in freedom, so why restrict projects to only college students - these kits are a great way to start your career in electronics. Read more

Review:Product came in a cool case but try to get everything back in it again haha... Using it to control my Christmas lights and works great.. Quality is excellent and so far no problems with it... Have used heavily and tested connectors over and over again... Could use more jumper wires and a bit longer in length would be the only downfall Read more
