Review:The media could not be loaded. I’ve had mine for I think two years now. But the step stool part annoys me every time I use it. It comes off the track when you pick up and move the stool. Very disappointing. Cool to look at. But that’s about it. Read more

Review:We replaced a 25-year-old Cosco Kitchen Stepstool, still going strong, but the vinyl seat cover was ripping at the front edge. We fixed it several times with clear packing tape, but it was time to replace it. Figured if we purchased a Cosco "Retro Kitchen Stepstool", we would get the same original style and quality, but with new vinyl seats. Well, what a disappointment. The old one we had was built with through bolts/nuts, guides aligning the steps and sturdy through bolted braces on the legs. This new stool is total junk. Cheap Chinese self-tapping screws, cheap Chinese 8/32 pan head bolts, and built-in, (welded) nuts for the 8/32 bolts. The first thing that happens with these cheap #2 Phillips screws and bolts is the Phillips slots strip, and the fastener is wasted. They even give you an extra 6 fasteners anticipating this, but if you want the truly tighten the screws and bolts, they strip. Junk. Then the braces are of stamped sheet metal, ill-fitting at best, not fitting at all at worst. The chair fastens to the seat bottom with sheet metal screws into plastic, The plastic stripped when made proper tight, Useless. And there are no guides holding the steps in place, only a plastic slot on the top step, allowing the step to rattle around unhindered. Dangerous. What a disappointment, Buyer beware, this is not "Retro" in quality, in fact not even in looks, the seat and steps are considerably smaller than the original Cosco Kitchen Stepstool. Read more

Review:ONE LEG TOO SHORT and many PIECES JUST DON'T FIT TOGETHER I wanted to LOVE this. It is the perfect size for a corner in my kitchen. It arrived today in a box that looked like it had been opened and then taped back together. First thing I noticed was that there are lots of scratches on the chrome parts, chipped and missed areas of paint, (and several nasty sharp edges), second thing I noticed is that this is not the vibrant really bright red color that was anticipated. It is a duller red with slight orange tint. One leg is shorter than the rest. I saw this on other reviews too, but hoped it was a problem that had already been addressed with newer items and corrected within the company. Nope. So, once I realized one leg was shorter (just after the first few parts of assembly), I figured I'd try to finish putting the rest together, maybe it would somehow correct itself once all the braces/supports and steps were added. Nope. I'm the person my neighbors come to when they need something put together. Instructions and I get along fine. I went over the instructions with fine tooth comb and did it exactly as instructed. However, this simply can't be put together because the supports and the holes do not line up properly. (see pics). I am now at a stand still because at the point of putting the first step on it's legs, the second set of legs simply does not go on. One of the bolt holes will not accept the bolt (it just doesn't fit to screw in more than 1/4 of the way it should). It is impossible to complete the chair. (it was already awkward too because of one shorter leg and the brace that wouldn't line up properly) I should also mention that upon unwrapping the seat, I noticed that the cushion cover was coming off on one corner. This was actually the least of the problems with this, but should be mentioned. This chair has wasted over an hour of my time to just get it halfway completed (because of bad parts). Now I fear I have to take it apart again and re-pack it to return. sigh. I really really want this chair, but am not happy about the wasted time nor the worry of what will come as a replacement. UPDATE: It took me over a half hour to take apart and repackage this thing. It's going back. I'm crossing fingers that it's replacement will not be defective too. It really is an adorable chair (but this is an awful lot of work to go through just to get a functional one). Read more

Review:I wanted to love this chair again, but I will get rid of it and find something worthy of being in our home. Those of you who remember this chair are thinking about a safe, well made, useful chair. Instead of the step mechanism having to lift up and out, it just glides forward and back in a plastic track. It spends more time being out of the track than in it. Even when it is in the track the steps slide around independently of the chair which makes it very unstable. I overlooked the reviews where people called it cheap but they were right. This is simply an accessory to a retro room and not to be functional by anyone you care about anymore. Read more

Review:Didn't know assembly was required. I'm a 69 yr old woman & assembling isn't my thing. But using a manual phillips screwdriver, it took me 2 hrs (counting mistakes I had to do over). The light teal is only on the new ones. The bad feature is the step you pull forward. Its track is plastic (should be steel like the rest of the stepstool). With normal stepstool use this won't last long before the plastic parts break. Wouldn't trust it to climb on...and it wobbles. Cosco should have kept making them indestructable like they used to. But, my purpose in getting this teal one was purely for asthetic reasons. It's not really sturdy due to the plastic that will soon break with normal use, but it's very pretty. Read more

Review:This product is of very poor quality to the extent that it is unsafe. The inner step part is loose and keeps coming apart from the main assembly. Received a refund from Amazon. Very good & efficient customer service Read more
